The House that Slashed its Energy Bills by 70 per cent

The Age sat down for an interview with C Street and Neil Architecture to discuss the energy performance benefits of ECHO.1 and the Passivhaus standard, in an article published on 18 July 2025.

Compared to typical Victorian households, which mostly rely on gas for hot water, cooking and heating, the energy bills for ECHO.1 have been modelled to be 70% less. This also accounts for the on-site power generation and storage via individual 4.4kW photovoltaic systems and 9.6kWh batteries that come with each home.
